Environment

Walking in nature greatly contributes to both physical and mental well-being. It helps reduce stress, improves concentration, and enhances overall quality of life.

However, some plants found in natural environments can pose health risks if touched.

Among the species to watch for in our area:

  • Giant hogweed
This large plant can cause severe skin burns when its sap comes into contact with the skin and is exposed to sunlight.

  • Wild parsnip
An invasive plant related to hogweed, it can also cause skin reactions, usually less severe, but still requiring caution.

  • Poison ivy
Very common and widespread, it is known to cause significant allergic reactions. Its sap can lead to intense itching, redness, and blisters, sometimes several hours after contact.

To fully and safely enjoy your time outdoors:

  • Avoid touching plants you do not recognize
  • Wear protective clothing when walking in natural areas
  • Learn about harmful species present in your environment

Staying vigilant allows everyone to safely enjoy our beautiful natural spaces.
