Lyme Disease: Stay Vigilant!

Published July 17, 2026

Environment

Tick season is well underway, and Lyme disease is present in several regions of Quebec. Residents who spend time in wooded areas, on trails, in tall grass, or in gardens are encouraged to take precautions.

To reduce your risk:

  • Wear light-colored, long-sleeved clothing and pants;
  • Use an approved insect repellent;
  • Check your body, clothing, and pets after outdoor activities;
  • Remove any attached tick as soon as possible.

Lyme disease can cause a characteristic skin rash, fatigue, headaches, and muscle aches. When detected early, it can be effectively treated with antibiotics.
