Wentworth, June 11, 2026 – The Municipality of the Township of Wentworth is proud to announce the official inauguration of a new Solidel solar-powered streetlight installed at the dog park located on chemin du Paradis.

With an investment of over $13,000, fully funded by Coop Tricentris through its Investing in Sustainable Communities program, this project significantly enhances the safety and accessibility of the site during evening hours.

Although the streetlight was installed in December 2025, the official inauguration took place on June 11, 2026, in the presence of several representatives, including Audrey Laliberté, Project Manager for the Investing in Sustainable Communities program, Jason Morrison, Mayor of the Township of Wentworth, and Natalie Black, Director General.

Prior to the installation, the lack of lighting greatly limited the use of the park after dark, especially during times of the year when night falls earlier. This new autonomous lighting system now allows citizens to safely enjoy the park for longer periods.

Powered entirely by solar energy, the new equipment helps reduce the Municipality’s carbon footprint while also lowering operating and maintenance costs. The initiative aligns directly with the Township’s sustainable development and environmental transition objectives.

“Through our Investing in Sustainable Communities program, we aim to make a tangible contribution to improving the quality of life in municipalities that are members of Coop Tricentris. The installation of this solar-powered streetlight at the chemin du Paradis dog park is an excellent example. It demonstrates, here and now, that it is possible to support initiatives that combine sustainability, innovation, and community well-being,” said Dany Dumont, General Manager of Coop Tricentris.

Since its installation, an increase in late-day park usage has already been observed, highlighting the positive impact of this new addition. The dog park now offers a safer and more welcoming environment for citizens and their pets.

The Municipality would like to warmly thank Coop Tricentris for its essential support in making this meaningful project a reality for the community.
