GOOD NEIGHBOURS ECOCENTER

All citizens of the Municipality of the Township of Wentworth, the Municipality of the Township of Gore and the Municipality of Mille-Isles may benefit from the Good Neighbours Ecocenter (proof of residency). They can thereby contribute to responsible waste management and environmental protection.

At Good Neighbours Ecocenter, residents are responsible for :

  • Pre-sorting materials;
  • Ensuring that materials are accepted at the ecocenter;
  • Follow the instructions of the on-site attendant.

New procedures at the Ecocenter

After studying the Ecocenter's attendance data, we found that some users were abusing the Ecocenter (over 20 times a year for some!). We remind you that the Ecocenter is for individuals, not contractors. The municipal councils of member municipalities have decided to introduce a fee for 11 or more visits (annually). This affects less than 2% of users.

Here's the rate in effect in 2024:

  • 10 annual visits : free
  • 11 to 15 visits: $10/visit
  • 16 to 20 visits: $100/visit
  • More than 20 visits: $200/visit

A visit management software is now installed at the ecocenter to manage entries and calculate visits for everyone. We thank you in advance for your cooperation.

SUMMER Schedule (May 22nd to October 9th, 2024):
Wednesday, Saturday & Sunday
9:00am to 4:30pm

***

WINTER Schedule (October 12th to December 31st, 2024):
Saturday & Sunday
9:00am to 4:30pm

---

The dome (resource center) is closed during the winter period

What is the resource center?

It is a dome-type building that serves as an exchange location at the Ecocenter. Users are invited to drop off materials or objects that are in good condition, for reuse by others. Whether furniture, appliances, building materials or objects of any kind, the resource center is the ultimate tool for the recovery and reuse of these domestic surpluses. Welcome!

PUBLIC CONSULTATION ON THE PROJECT OF THE 2023-2030 PGMR OF THE MRC OF ARGENTEUIL

Towards a more efficient and responsible management of residual materials - The Council of the MRC of Argenteuil adopted the Project of the 2023-2030 Residual Materials Management Plan (PGMR) at its regular meeting of October 12th and is now launching the public consultations.

A PGMR is a tool that aims to develop and implement concrete means to achieve the objectives of the Quebec Residual Materials Management Policy, its Action Plan and its Strategy for the Recovery of Organic Materials. These objectives are mainly aimed at reducing the quantity of landfilled materials and increasing the recycling and recovery of recyclable materials, organic materials and construction, renovation and demolition waste.

Be part of the change - Argenteuil residents are invited to have their say on the PGMR Project, either by attending a public consultation meeting or by sending in their briefs or comments.
